Reinforcement Learning in the Songbird

Topics in Sensorimotor Control is a new course supported by an NIH T32 postdoctoral training grant in Integrated Computational and Experimental Sensorimotor Control. Each week, a member of the faculty will lead a two-hour session that typically combines a one-hour didactic lecture followed by a one-hour research-focused presentation. Geared towards postdocs and advanced graduate students, the course offers an overview of core concepts in sensorimotor control across multiple model organisms and computational approaches.

All Columbia students, faculty, and researchers with a graduate‑level interest in sensorimotor control are welcome to attend. No enrollment or sign‑up is required. The course is in a pilot phase and structured as a lecture series, with no attendance requirements and not offered for credit. Each session reflects the speaker’s area of focus rather than a sequential introduction, so you are welcome to join for any weeks that fit your schedule. When you arrive at the Jerome L. Greene Science Center, please check in with Public Safety at the front desk and they will direct you to the 5th floor.
