Saturday Science: Home Edition

Join us this fall for the return of Saturday Science: Home Edition!

December 4th, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Online

Register Here

Just like in the spring, Saturday Science is back online, and we’re bringing the students in your life brand-new activity kits and the chance to learn neuroscience from real scientists! We will be live on Zoom on December 4, 2021, from 2 pm - 4 pm.

In order to get activity kits in the hands of students, we have partnered with some local schools and libraries to distribute them most safely and effectively. A list of pick-up sites will be shared by November 21. For more details and to register for this event please visit THIS PAGE.

Each activity kit is a reusable drawstring bag and includes…
- Hand sanitizer;
- Supplies and instructions for three different activities;
- other goodies!

This program, an adaptation of our pre-pandemic Saturday Science open houses, pairs a set of brief neuroscience activities with a day of engaging remote instruction. Students can join a Zoom room to interact live with Columbia scientists in English or Spanish as they are guided through each lesson. The activities are best suited for elementary schoolers, but the concepts associated with each can be tailored to different age groups by our virtual instructors as well. If students can’t join for the Zoom day event, the kits also include both English and Spanish instructions for independent learning.

Can’t make it to our live Zoom events? We will also upload videos to this page that demonstrate just what to do! Check back after December 6 to find those clips here, and follow along whenever works best for you.

Photography: On occasion, we photograph or video Saturday Science for promotional and archival purposes. When registering for or attending the event at Jerome L. Greene Science Center, you give Columbia University in the City of New York the right to use you and your child's image for said purposes. We will never use your names, age or other identifying factors.
