Let the Music Flow

Music has the power to engage musicians and listeners in ways that often seem to transcend time and space. Mihaly Csiksgentmihalyi, the Hungarian-American psychologist, coined the term “flow state” after observing visual artists at work and hearing them describe their experience of creating art. Being “in the flow“ or “in the zone” is the deepest form of focus and attention that we know, and Mihaly considered it one of the most nourishing experiences in life. Join pianist/composer Helen Sung and Zuckerman Institute neuroscientist Dr. Michael Shadlen as they explore the neuroscience behind how we experience “flow” through music.

This event is designed for people with dementia and their care partners. Please register in advance through the Arts & Minds web page.
