May 2021 marks the one-year anniversary of our “Rhythm & Reason” programming!

Please join us as we celebrate this milestone featuring the Zuckerman Institute’s inaugural Jazz Artist-in-Residence, pianist Helen Sung and guest scientist Dr. Erica Rodriguez, whose research examines how our social environment shapes our emotional response and behavior. Music is an important social activity, so we’ll take a look at something that spans across all cultures – the lullaby – to learn how music can help us communicate, connect, and find comfort during this past year of social isolation.

Join us to listen and move with the music, and maybe learn something new!

This event is designed for people with dementia and their care partners. Please register in advance through the Arts & Minds web page. There will be a chance to see this event for a general audience on Tuesday, May 25 at 2:00pm EST.

Rhythm and Reason is a collaboration between Arts & Minds, the National Jazz Museum in Harlem and Columbia University’s Zuckerman Institute.
