Do You Feel What I Hear?

Music brings us together in ways as few other things can. As Stevie Wonder sings in his hit song Sir Duke: “music is a language we all understand.” It reaches across cultures and connects us to others, synchronizing our bodies and brains, uniting the heart, mind, and soul. Music causes us to feel emotions and physical sensations, making us want to move, to dance, to sing along. Join Steinway Artist and Guggenheim Fellow, jazz pianist Helen Sung and Neurorehabilitation researcher and dancer Miriam King for live music and dance performance together with group activities that explore how music engages our senses and promotes social connection.

Join us to listen and move with the music, and maybe learn something new!

This event is designed for people with dementia and their care partners. Please register in advance through the Arts & Minds web page.

Rhythm and Reason is a collaboration between Arts & Minds, the National Jazz Museum in Harlem, and Columbia University’s Zuckerman Institute.
