Research Staff Assistant - Card Lab

The laboratory of Gwyneth Card at the Zuckerman Institute has an open position for a highly motivated Research Staff Assistant to work in a cutting-edge neuroscience laboratory. Working alongside postdoctoral researchers and reporting directly to the Principal Investigator (PI), the laboratory studies Drosophila escape behavior in ecologically relevant situations. We seek a highly motivated, skilled, and dynamic individual who is enthusiastic about a career in science. This is a grant-funded, full-time position.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing daily robot or manual fly-flipping runs.

  • Check for sick fly stocks and perform hand fly flipping until stock is healthy.

  • Manage online fly stock databases, including entering new fly entries.

  • Train on neural Drosophila dissections for Split-Gal4 imaging pipeline.

  • Assist with administrative and documentation tasks that relate to the lab.

  • Help with general lab maintenance.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in neuroscience, biology, or other related area of science is required.

  • A minimum of 2 years of related experience in a research environment is required.
