Metabolic Shifts in Neurodegeneration

Many neurodegenerative diseases are characterized by altered energy homeostasis. In this seminar, I’ll discuss our efforts to delineate how brain energy metabolism is disrupted in models of Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease, and how increased reliance on glycolysis and alternate fuels can influence susceptibility to energy failure and vulnerability to neurodegeneration.
