The Mortimer B. Zuckerman Institute invites the Coumbia community for a conversation with the Institute's Alan Kanzer Artist-in-Residence Julie Mehretu, moderated by Charles Zuker, discussing the artist's work's history and trajectory, interpretations of time and space, and the impact of social inequities. This conversation marks the artist's first open event in her time as the Alan Kanzer Artist-in-Residence at the Zuckerman Institute.

About Julie
Julie Mehretu is a world-renowned painter, born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 1970 who lives and works in New York City and Berlin. She has shown her work extensively in international and national solo and group exhibitions and is represented in public and private collections around the world. Her mid-career survey opened at The Whitney Museum of American Art on March 25. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and is represented by Marian Goodman Gallery, New York.

Moderated by Charles Zuker, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics and of Neuroscience; Principal Investigator at Columbia's Zuckerman Institute; Investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
