New Ideas on the Organization of Neural Circuitry

Larry Swanson, PhD, will discuss new approaches he has been taking to uncover general design principles of mammalian nervous system organization. He is spending six months as a Visiting Scientist in the Kandel Lab.

June 7th, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Jerome L. Greene Science Center (9th floor lecture hall)

Larry Swanson, PhD, is a distinguished neuroanatomist and University Professor and Appleman Professor of Biological Sciences, Neurology, and Psychology at USC. His current research is focused on understanding the structure-function organization of brain circuits that control motivation and emotion using experimental animal models and network neuroscience analyses. During his sabbatical from January to June 2018 in the Kandel Lab, he is collaborating on a project to identify and characterize neural circuits involved in the expression of post-traumatic stress disorders.

This lecture will take place in the 9th floor lecture hall in the Jerome L. Greene Science Center.

Reception to follow.
