“Hearing is Believing” an episode of the series, Music on the Brain, brings together jazz music and science as we celebrate the way that music affects our brains and bodies. Each month we explore a different topic with a guest scientist from Columbia University, combined with music from New York-based and inaugural Zuckerman Institute Jazz Artist-in-Residence pianist Helen Sung.

Prachi Patel, PhD Candidate in the Electrical Engineering department at Columbia University, will speak on how sounds are processed in the brain and the emotional associations a sound may elicit.

“Music in Motion” is an episode of Music on the Brain, a collaborative series between the National Jazz Museum in Harlem and Columbia University’s Zuckerman Institute.
