Join us for the capstone event of Linda May Han Oh’s residency at the Zuckerman Institute, featuring pianist Fabian Almazán. The performance will be followed by a moderated conversation with Mike Shadlen, Professor of Neuroscience, Principal Investigator at Columbia’s Zuckerman Institute, and Investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and Chris Washburne, Professor of Music and Chair of the Music Department at Columbia, reflecting on her residency, key learnings, ongoing questions, future projects, and collaborations. The discussion will conclude with an audience Q&A.

ABOUT LINDA
Originally born in Malaysia and raised in Boorloo (Perth), Western Australia, she has received many honors, including the 2023 Herb Alpert Award and an honorary doctorate from the Manhattan School of Music in 2024.
Linda has released six albums as a bandleader, and her band was recently featured on NPR’s Tiny Desk.
She has written for large and small ensembles, as well as for film. Most recently, she scored Sorority Confidential by filmmaker Kathryn Smith Pyle and is currently working on Invisible Threads, a multidisciplinary project commissioned by the Melbourne Jazz Festival featuring illustrations by Keith Henry Brown.
Linda currently teaches at Berklee College of Music and is also part of the Institute for Jazz and Gender Justice. She was featured on bass in the 2020 Pixar movie Soul and served as the model for the character Miho.
