Columbia University in the City of New York

Join our foundation of support.

Columbia's Zuckerman Institute and the Jerome L. Greene Science Center were made possible with transformational gifts from Dawn M. Greene and the Jerome L. Greene Foundation and by Mortimer B. Zuckerman.

With your partnership, our potential is boundless.

At the Zuckerman Institute, no endeavor is more urgent or more likely to benefit humankind than understanding how we think, act and behave. But addressing this global challenge depends on the generosity of those who support our research.

As we make progress in deciphering the human brain—how it develops, works, endures and recovers—we can apply these fundamental insights toward combating psychiatric, developmental and neurological disorders.

The Future in Mind Initiative

Early-career scientists, including undergraduate students, doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty, play a vital role at the Zuckerman Institute. We train up to 250 of these talented and dedicated researchers at any one time. They are the lifeblood of our institute, the future leaders of our field, and the most vulnerable to shifts and uncertainty in federal research funding in today's challenging, rapidly changing world.

At this pivotal moment, we have launched The Future in Mind Initiative—a dedicated fundraising sprint to raise both immediate-use and endowed funds to direclty support this next generation.

Here's how you can make a difference:

Join us a philanthropic partner! Make a donation to The Future Mind Fund today, or contact us to find out more about how you can help create opportunities for talented, early-stage scientists as they emark upon their careers.

You can also support us with a gift to the Friends of Zuckerman Institute Fund. Your donation will help us

Fund innovative neuroscience and underwrite the technologies and platforms needed to decipher the brain processes that underlie behavior—both in the normal and diseased brain.

Recruit world-renowned scientists to work alongside some of the most creative minds in science, including Nobel and Kavli-prize winning scientists, who are committed to finding answers to the immense problems of brain and mind.

Encourage novel approaches to brain science by supporting seed grants for outside-the-box ideas and programming at the intersection with art, music, economics and law that will lend insight into our behavior.

Make neuroscience accessible to the public by facilitating free intellectual programming and science training programs for teachers and students in NYC.

Join us! An investment in a scientific enterprise like ours creates ripple effects, with far-reaching, exponential rewards for our city, our state, our country and humanity at large.
