Research Staff Assistant - Maniatis Lab

The Maniatis lab is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Research Staff Assistant reporting to Associate Research Scientist, Erin Flaherty. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic group that is investigating the molecular basis of neural connectivity, and its impact on neurological diseases. This role will provide integral support to our work utilizing mouse models and genomic studies to study the molecular mechanisms that underlie neural circuit formation. Specifically, the technician will support our research by maintaining a small mouse colony, performing terminal cardiac perfusions and stereotaxic injections, and supporting molecular biology studies.

This is a full-time grant-funded role.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • As directed by the PI, support genotyping of genetically modified mice, perform terminal cardiac perfusions, stereotaxic injections, tissue sectioning and confocal microscopy.

  • As directed by the PI, perform biology techniques such as: molecular cloning, PCR, nucleic acid purification, qPCR and western blotting.

  • Collects and records data.

  • Routine lab management activities, including ordering supplies, sustaining inventories and maintenance of instruments.
