Research Staff Assistant, Sawtell Lab

The Research Staff Assistant will join the Sawtell Lab, a neuroscience laboratory performing state-of-the-art research linking neural circuits to function, including studies of learning, sensory processing and motor behavior in electric fish and mice.

Summary

Columbia University’s Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute is seeking a highly-motivated individual to fill the position of a Research Staff Assistant. The position is in a neuroscience laboratory performing state-of-the-art research linking neural circuits to function, including studies of learning, sensory processing and motor behavior in electric fish and mice.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Animal colony management, supporting purchases of lab equipment and supplies, sustaining lab inventories and ensuring timely maintenance of lab equipment, performing general lab duties, such as making solutions and maintaining stocks, and additional assistance with other projects in the lab working with all members of the laboratory, including histology, confocal microscopy and stereotaxic surgery.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have a science-related bachelor’s degree. A minimum of 6 months of related experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Prior research laboratory experience is highly desired.
